Autism Assessment
Understand your neurotype with clarity and compassion.
We provide autism assessments for adults and young people in Melbourne. Our psychologists use evidence-based tools alongside clinical expertise to understand your neurology, experiences, and strengths. An assessment with Mindkit means being seen accurately. We recognise that autism presents differently across ages, genders, and backgrounds. Our evaluations account for masking, co-occurring presentations, and the full spectrum of autistic experience.
Why get an autism assessment
Understanding whether you’re autistic can clarify a lifetime of questions. An assessment provides:
- Self-understanding: A framework for making sense of how you think, feel, and move through the world
- Access to support: Formal recognition opens pathways to workplace adjustments, educational accommodations, and NDIS funding
- Validation: Confirmation that your experiences are real and shared by others
- Better strategies: Insights that inform more effective approaches to communication, sensory needs, and wellbeing
- Community connection: A foundation for finding others who share your neurology
- Informed planning: Clear information to guide decisions about work, relationships, and daily life
Our assessment process
Every assessment is tailored to the person in front of us. Our standard approach includes:
- Initial consultation: A conversation about your experiences, questions, and what you’re hoping to understand
- Background review: We gather developmental history, school reports, and relevant information from childhood and beyond
- Clinical interview: In-depth discussion about social communication, sensory processing, patterns of behaviour, and daily functioning
- Standardised measures: Evidence-based questionnaires and observational tools, selected based on your age and presentation
- Collateral information: Input from family members or others who know you well (where appropriate and with your consent)
- Analysis and reporting: Careful integration of all information into a comprehensive written report with clear conclusions and recommendations
Who is this for?
- Adults seeking clarity about lifelong patterns and experiences
- Adolescents and young adults navigating school, work, or social challenges
- Women and gender-diverse people whose autism may have been missed or misunderstood
- People with co-occurring presentations including ADHD, anxiety, or trauma

Why MindKit?
We describe our approach as neurodiversity-affirming. That means:
- Autism is understood as a neurological difference, not a deficit
- Masking and camouflaging are recognised and accounted for in assessment
- Your experiences and self-knowledge are valued as essential clinical information
- Findings are explained in clear, respectful language
- Recommendations focus on support and accommodation, not changing who you are
