ADHD Coaching

Practical support for daily life with ADHD

Our approach to ADHD coaching

ADHD coaching helps you build practical skills and systems that work with your brain, not against it. Many people find coaching especially valuable after assessment, when they’re ready to turn understanding into action.

Coaching sessions are collaborative conversations. We work together to understand your challenges, explore what’s getting in the way, and develop strategies you can actually use.

What we work on together

Every coaching relationship looks different because every ADHD brain is different. We tailor our approach to your specific needs, challenges, and goals.

  • Executive function: Strategies for starting tasks, switching between activities, planning, and following through without relying on willpower alone.
  • Time and organisation: Systems for managing time and staying organised that account for time blindness and working memory challenges.
  • Routines and habits: Creating sustainable routines that don’t collapse after two weeks, and understanding why routines are particularly hard for ADHD brains.
  • Overwhelm and burnout: Managing sensory overwhelm, decision fatigue, and burnout. Learning to recognise your limits and build in rest before you crash.
  • Procrastination and motivation: Understanding how ADHD motivation works with your interest-based nervous system, and developing strategies that work with your brain’s dopamine needs.
  • Emotional regulation: Working with emotional intensity, rejection sensitivity, and the emotional aspects of ADHD that often get overlooked.

We also support you in navigating ADHD in specific contexts: work, study, parenting, relationships, or creative pursuits. The focus of our sessions is always on what matters most to you.

What to expect

Sessions are typically weekly or fortnightly, depending on your needs and goals. Everything is tailored to your brain, your life, and what actually works for you.

We focus on practical strategies and small, achievable steps rather than overwhelming overhauls. You’ll have support to help you follow through, without shame or judgement when things don’t go to plan.

Sessions are available in-person at our Brunswick East office or via telehealth across Australia.

How we work

  • Neurodiversity-affirming: We understand ADHD as a natural neurological difference. Our approach works with your brain rather than trying to force it into neurotypical patterns.
  • Lived experience and expertise: Our coaches combine professional training with genuine understanding of ADHD. This means strategies that are realistic, compassionate, and grounded in how ADHD brains actually work.
  • Beyond generic productivity: We don’t offer one-size-fits-all productivity systems or “hustle culture” disguised as ADHD support. Our coaching recognises that ADHD brains work differently.
  • Integrated support: We’re part of a psychology practice, so we can offer support that combines coaching with therapy, assessment, and other services when needed. Coaching focuses on practical strategies and moving forward. Therapy explores deeper emotional patterns, trauma, and psychological wellbeing. At Mindkit, we offer both. Sometimes the most effective approach combines coaching and therapy. We can help you work out what’s right for you.
  • A shame-free zone: We understand the internalised shame many people with ADHD carry. Our coaching space is judgement-free, realistic about challenges, and focused on self-compassion alongside practical strategies.

FAQs

Do I need formal documentation to access coaching?

No. While many people come to coaching after assessment, you don’t need formal documentation. If you recognise ADHD traits in yourself and want practical support, coaching can help.

Coaching is forward-focused and action-oriented, helping you develop practical strategies for daily life. Therapy explores emotional patterns, past experiences, and psychological wellbeing. Many people benefit from both. We can help you work out what’s right for you.

It varies. Some people work with a coach for a few months to build specific skills or systems. Others find ongoing coaching helpful for longer-term support. We can discuss what makes sense for your goals.

No. Coaching and medication address different aspects of ADHD. Many people find a combination of assessment, therapy and coaching most helpful. Medication can support focus and regulation, while coaching provides practical strategies and skills. Coaching can also be valuable if you choose not to take medication or are waiting to access it.

Not all ADHD coaching is created equal. Many coaches offer generic productivity advice that doesn’t account for how ADHD brains actually work. Our approach is specifically designed for neurodivergent brains, grounded in both clinical expertise and lived experience.
